Dear G.W. Carver Parents and Community,
I am honored to be the new Principal of George Washington Carver
School of the Arts and Sciences. The G.W. Carver community
is not only the first Waldorf Public Charter in the Nation, it
carries the name of a scientist, inventor, supporter of the arts,
and educator. As a supporter and occasional curator of the
arts, I visited G.W. Carver in 2013/2014 and instantly fell in
love. So I look forward to working with our parents, staff
and students to enhance student engagement, breathe life back
into our gardens, increase the awareness and enrollment of our
campus and provide the academic and extra-curricular
opportunities our students require to graduate college and career
My career in education began over 25 years ago at the University
of California at Davis as a pre-veterinarian student.
However, at UCD I discovered my knack for working with students
and explored my love of the arts. As an administrator and
teacher, I have an extensive diverse background in secondary
education where I have worked in Southern and Northern
California, and most recently abroad with multi-lingual students.
I am excited to share my expertise and experience to benefit the
G.W. Carver community in accomplishing our goals.
Although these unprecedented times have been difficult for our
community, collaboratively we will encourage and guide our
students, families, and staff through what we hope to soon be the
tail end of a pandemic, and a healing process from the racial and
gender tensions we have experienced in our lives and through the
media. As your Principal, my goal is to have a safe, positive,
and supportive learning environment for all students.
G.W. Carver is a unique hidden jewel in Sacramento and I am
excited to lead and serve this wonderful community. I am looking
forward to getting to know my future graduates and parents.
